Estes Park, Colorado
The photo above is of the place by the Thompson River where my family would go for picnics when I was a child. I would torment my mom by jumping from rock to rock over rushing water. I remember the water being so clean then, we could drink from it. I rediscovered this special place on a hike with my husband during our trip in 2018. It had been 45 years...
Estes is a place very special to my family and I. It started with my maternal grandparents around 1935 who took my mom and her siblings to the YMCA of the Rockies (The 'Y') for vacations. My mom and dad were married there. My dad worked for the Chamber of Commerce and my mom taught first grade. I was born there. On the main street in town. In a two-roomed "hospital."
Even though I ended up growing up in Omaha, Nebraska, I still consider it my home. My roots. I married my husband Marc because of his reaction when he saw the Estes valley and the 'Y' for the first time in 1990! We have done our best over the years to keep the love of this place and the tradition alive. Hopefully our children will as well.

Note: Unfortunately many photos have been lost over the years and cameras either weren't digital or they weren't as good as they are now so the best of what we do have will be posted beginning with 2002.
