Biography

I’ve always had a way with animals – large and small - and my Mom often said she thought I’d grow up to be a vet. I did go to medical school for three years studying physical therapy but it wasn’t for me. I own my own web design and development company now – which supports my dog hobby.
I first became interested in dogs when I was very young but unfortunately we were only allowed small animals as pets since both parents worked.
When I was married with my own home and family, I immediately got a dog - a cocker spaniel from a pet shop. I didn’t know any better. It was a “nightmare” - of allergies and temperament problems. I’ve since learned the “right” way to purchase, train, raise and socialize a dog. I understand the importance and continue to try and educate others.
I researched breeds and breeders and purchased my first golden (American) from a well-respected, reputable breeder (and seasoned obedience trainer) in 2003. I took classes from her until Kodi was well over a year old and continued when we moved to Texas. He always made me look good in the obedience ring. Kodi passed in October of 2015. He was my heart dog.
In 2004 when I was looking for our next golden, I saw a dog that took my breath away. He was pale in color with a stocky build, beautiful head and a kind, soft expression. I was hooked! After researching lines (health / longevity) and breeders in Europe, I chose to concentrate my efforts on the English/European lines. I have been over 5 times so far to develop trusted relationships. Our next three all came from the Netherlands.
I look forward to adding in new, healthy lines over time with the continued goal to produce multi-purpose goldens of the English type who are sound in structure, temperament and health.
As a dog owner, I believe in socialization outside of their “pack”, early training, exercise, high-quality food and trusted veterinary care. I believe in the “minimum” approach to vaccinating. Each dog has his/her own unique abilities and personality. As we learn those, we have a responsibility to find suitable activities for each dog that we own. Also, a golden is a “people” dog and should live inside the home.
As a breeder, I purchase, keep back my best and raise correctly. I obtain all clearances and research combinations. I will place my pet puppies into loving and appropriate homes - accomplished through interviews, a questionnaire I have developed and on temperament testing. But most importantly, my responsibility to the breed is to share what I have learned with others, to never stop learning and to ask others more knowledgeable than myself for help and advice.
To remember always: for the good of the breed…
